The adult child’s concern:

Mom and/or Dad says, “I just met with my doctor and I didn’t understand what I needed to do next. My spouse is overwhelmed, my children live out of town and I need help.  Or, even if one of my adult children are in town, I don’t want to bother them. I’ll be fine.

Besides, I still want my independence and dignity.”

The adult child’s concern: “I want to help my loved ones with their healthcare needs, but I don’t know where to start and I want to respect their wishes..”

“I don’t have any family member or loved one to help me act as the agent under the power of attorney.  What should I do?”
